More about spider sprays

Wow. That was weird. Had a phone call today about doing a spider spray - but apparently the person did not like the length of the guarantee.

Spraying for spiders is very effective, my friends - but it does not get rid of any existing webs, and it doesn't last forever.

We can't even - really - tell you how long it IS going to last; that depends on a whole bunch of weather conditions that we have no control over. Rain isn't a problem - but the sun does, over time, break down the product and reduce its residual effect.

That would be why most homes & cottages - especially those near water - need two, or even three, sprays each season.

Cottage Country Pest Control schedules these at your convenience and in order to reduce the number of treatments you'll require wherever possible. We are not interested in over-spraying or in selling you services you don't need; we are here to solve your pest problems for you.

So - if the spider webs are getting to you, the first step is to give us a call, or send us an email and set up your spray. And then, if you like, take a broom to any existing webs before we get there. We'll come and spray, which will prevent spiders from taking up residence for about 6 weeks (depending, as I said, on the sun).

When they start to come back, you let us know and we'll come back and do it again - and we'll give you a discount, too.

Updating

I need to do a whole lot better job of staying on top of this blog! Thought it would get easier once I was (pretty much) off school for the summer. But now we are busy with bugs. Raining today though, so it's a good day for updating the blog and other such ~stuff~ ... maybe I will even get to updating the web site. It surely needs it!

Not too busy to solve your pest problems as well though... give us a call at 705-534-7863 or email ccpestcontrol@gmail.com to arrange your estimate or service.

Waterfront & Marina Management

One of the ways that Cottage Country Pest Control is different is in our approach to the lake. We live on the water. We care about the environment. And we will NOT risk damaging fish, wildlife or water quality by spraying over open water.

We will, however, ensure that your boathouse, marina and waterfront areas are treated for spiders... carefully and safely. We take the time to do things right.

Give us a call at (705)534-7863, or, if you're in the Peterborough area, you might prefer (705)742-6245.

Or email ccpestcontrol@gmail.com

And Another Question - Pets and Pest Control

The other question that people want to know the answer to is whether the products we use are safe for their pets (and kids, of course - but most of the people I have been talking to so far are living up here in cottage country and seem to have more pets than pes... kids).

You will - assuming that you have either (kids or critters) be happy to know that Cottage Country Pest Control makes very sure that the products we use are effective and safe.

We do ask that kids, critters, and anyone with health issues not be present while premises are being sprayed. For example, while spraying outside, we will ask that you keep any dogs inside. When doing interior work, if you will need to make arrangements for your kids and critters, we will make sure you know ahead of the time - and in most cases, that will be only for the length of time it takes to spray. Once it settles, everyone - four-footed or two - can return.

If you have questions about any aspect of the services we offer, please do give us a call, or email ccpestcontrol@gmail.com

How Many Sprays

Now that I am (pretty much) done school - for the time being - I have been manning the phones a fair bit.

Most frequent question, this week - after price, of course - is how many spider sprays are likely to be needed.

There is some variability in that. In normal years, anyway, "two or three" will often be enough to keep the spiders from taking up residence and ~decorating~ for you... this year, because of the mild winter and very early spring, it is more likely to be three, or even four.

Seasonal discounts are available; give us a call.

And really, don't wait. It is far preferable to treat before the spiders get well established and make a mess. You get better results.

Call us at (705)534-7863, or if you are in the Peterborough area, (705)742-6245.

Bugs Bugs Bugs

Wow!

I happened to look out my kitchen window this afternoon and noticed all sorts of little bugs flying around.

They really ARE early this year, aren't they?!

I have been seeing spiders already too - although not 'round my house, of course.

It's rather odd being married to a pest control guy. Me I always used to just relocate spiders that wandered into my house. Now I never have any!

I like spiders - well, their webs, anyway. Not the ones that make the outside of your house look messy and dirty - but the ones that collect the dew and look SO beautiful in the sun.

'Course, I didn't used to live on the water, either - on waterfront properties the spiders DO make a heck of a mess... not the same thing at all.

ANYWAY.... as I was saying... I think? ... the critters are starting early this year... call us now to arrange your spider spray package.

Bats in the Belfry?

... or in the attic? Or anyplace else you don't want them?

If you had bats inside last year, now is the time to think about addressing the problem BEFORE the bats return from their winter get-aways. And they WILL come back - bats are territorial; once they have a good place to live, they will return to it as long as they are able.

It is much easier to prevent bats from getting in - redirecting them to well-placed, seasoned bat boxes - rather than having to evict them once they take up residence.

To arrange a site visit & estimate, give us a call at (705)534-7863 (Midland, Barrie, Honey Harbour, Muskoka.....) or (705)741-6245 (Peterborough/Kawarthas)

Services include bat removal and exclusion; guano clean up (+ deoderize & disinfect the area) - all with a one year guarantee.

We also provide seasoned bat boxes.
